No but no noises n runs amazing No but runs gr8 till hot under pto load usually 1.5 to 2 hrs the bluh Shut down. Restarts a minute later and shutdowns get more frequent from there. Does that sound like bad valve timing

Carb and i agree mpt likely I was more hoping some 1 would chime in woth first handle knowledge... The blown motor, head gasket, timing Dont add up to runs gr8 till hot then shuts down only whilenunder pto load

Thats!!! What me and my small engine pal discussed... i assume dealer did it during troubleshooting but the report i just got emailed doesnt reflect such....isnt valve lash on these motors 10 minutes tops?

Oh, yes i understand the premise, i was asking what may be implied because there is a tiny bit of oil or dust on cooling fins... i thought there was may be some seconday failsafe system shutdown circuit... Yet what i think you are implying, is major internal damage i.e. valve guides/head gasket...

Im no ace tech, so when i ask ?'s it's in the spirit of learning and troubleshooting... so what are you thinking about oil and debris buildup on cooling fins? I only ask as with daily use and living in a dust bowl, probably all 4 of our mowers look about like that? If any ever had spills/leaks...

Yes the problem went away after new pto switch/clutch/wire harness..... but the mower also got a lot less daily use as we bought another mower to offset any shoptime

Well i do have a pile of cheap Toros... this mower (while a cheaper entry level model) def. has a bunch more wiring and a seperate proper parking brake that locks it unlike the timecutters that u simply put handles in park.(if thats what you were describing) could the safety switch simply be...

The intermittent-ness is the problem once it dies ... and i hop off n check fuel its good. I check spark, and it seems fine. Yet something is causing a random and immediate shut down. Doesn' t actually remind me of a fuel restriction, as when it dies it will only do it when blades are engaged...

Oh boy... alright got 40p hours on engine. once motor got hot (usually right at 1 hour of use) it shuts off mid mowing. The shut down is abrupt and final. Took to 2 dealers they cant replicate.took home and bam it kept dying. Called exmark raised hell about warranty and they took it in replaced...
