    Out of patience,

Unless you provide us with all engine numbers it is extremely difficult for any of use to answer your questions. You don’t even supply us with the engine brand. Techs here are not psychic nor do we have a crystal ball so we must rely on actual facts such as engine numbers or at least unit...

Please help. Stihl bg85 will not run

I’m thinking you may be flooding the unit. To start these units it’s best to close choke and pull rope until it pops, then move choke to half way and start unit. This is what I would do. 1. Remove the muffler. 2. Check to see if the cylinder is wet. 3. Set the choke OFF, switch on. 4. Pull...

No spark on a Wisconsin Robin

I know many say that flywheel magnets go bad, but in my 50+ years of doing small engine repairs I’ve only seen this problem less than a half dozen times. Very rare. Have you tried resetting the air gap slightly tighter, I use .018”.

    Snapper Friction Wheel Replacement

Replaced my sure of those wheels and they can be real fun, depending on your patience. First thing I do is to unbolt the wheel from its holder, can remember if it is three or four bolts. You need to remove the bearing caps on each end of the shaft. With the caps loose you will now be able to...

No spark on a Wisconsin Robin

I would pull the flywheel and check the points and condenser. Set the points at .018” and try again with a new spark plug. If still no spark, I would be leaning towards replacing both points and condenser. Service manual is available online. Look for either WI-185 or EY20, same unit.

Putting a little Oil in cylinder before initial start of new small engine.

Slomo, you better read a couple of owners manuals for today’s walk behind mowers. Most of them recommend changing the oil by tipping it on its side with the carb up. Just because you don’t do it, don’t make a blanket statement that it shouldn’t be done. Second, purchasing an evacuation system...

Putting a little Oil in cylinder before initial start of new small engine.

I’ve been tipping mowers on their side for years and have never had a problem. To me this is an old wives tale and don’t expect to change my ways.

    Starter Spins But Won't Crank

He doesn’t have to open the starter motor, as he says it spins. Just needs to remove the top case to inspect the clutch.

    Starter Spins But Won't Crank

Before purchasing a new starter I would remove the starter and do a little troubleshooting. I suspect the clutch is just stuck on the shaft and needs a little cleaning and light coat of lube. You have to remove the starter either way so troubleshooting before purchasing may save you $$$$.

Snapper Push Mower Revs Too High

Would you provide us with the engine model, type and code numbers so we can identify what engine you have. That way we don’t have to guess what carb you are dealing with. We hate making assumptions. They will be stamped on the engine shroud or block.

Engine will not start (6hp model 122H02-0220-B1)

The carb in the picture is Briggs part #799868. This carb uses air filter assembly #795259, which has the primer built into the filter base. Second, by adjusting the part where governor spring attaches to the throttle control (part with smaller hole) you can change throttle speed. Bending the...

looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

With that hertz and voltage high draw appliances (fridge, microwave, hot water heater, stove) will have a shorter life. This will be due to overheating. In smaller appliances you will find that the cords will get hot, as will older wiring and this will be a fire hazard.

looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

Star, you’ve got me on that one, as I’ve never heard of 130 VAC with 60 hz. Pushing that amount of amperage with 130 VAC will burn out a lot of small appliances.
  24. R

looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

You will need a meter which measures frequency in hertz. Two things you need to know that depending on the size of the generator the hertz will vary. If your generator has an output of 110 VAC the frequency will be 50 hz. If the output is 120 VAC the frequency will be 60 hz. Your hertz may...

Carb leak filled cylinder with gas

Hey Craftsman, this site has a NO POLITICS rule. Sorry had to say that. As for reading all posts, my unwritten rule is I stay out of a thread if I feel other pros are already have posted more than once or I have nothing to add which would help the OP. looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

You need a tachometer to properly set governed top speed. Need to check at both load and no load conditions. Can’t just go by spring location. I should add that if you find that the RPMs are off and you adjust the carb to specs, you should also check the voltage and hertz output. If these...

looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

Does the engine go from idle to full speed when you put a load on the generator? Being that it is only a 6.5 hp engine I’m guessing it is a constant speed unit, but your statement of 1500 RPMs puzzles me. Here are steps from generator gurus to set the governor. Have you tried contacting...

looking for carb for Shop Force AT 04103 generator

Is this a constant speed generator or does it have a step down solenoid to reduce engine speed under no load operation? If it is a constant speed unit, what are the RPMS while running? I’m guessing between 3200-3600. This info should be on the ID tag. If it is not running at the proper RPMS...

B&S 303777 wont run after new rings

It does sound like a carb issue, but I’m not convinced that is the only problem. You need to back up and look at a few things. Think about each of these: 1. How positive are you that your timing marks are lined up during reassembly? 2. Plugging the vacuum line for a disconnected fuel pump...

    dieseling engine when shut down

I’m confused, would you please provide us with pictures of the old fuel shutoff and the electric inline shutoff you installed. The only fuel shutoff on that Briggs engine is the electric solenoid mounted on the bottom of the carb, which is electric.

I hate guessing also, but because I am no longer able to open the old Briggs parts book, this is the best I can do. Check Sec 5 page 25 fig 57-58 In the manual I posted. Shows location only, but not your exact engine.
