The M111358 bushings (24) are worn. I'm ordering some new ones. But was wondering if it would be OK to bend that arm (9A) the spring attaches to. Say maybe 1inch? Just enough to clear the belt? It's going to take a week to get the parts. I kind of need to mow before the rain comes.

If the deck is cracked, you'll be able to spot it better from the top, if the top is clean (around the spindle assembly's) I'm only guessing, but do you spindle housing mount from the bottom of the deck?

With a test light, (and the park brake set so you don't have to be sitting in the seat) turn the key to start to see if you have 12v going to the starter. If you don't, then it's very likely that you just have a bad solenoid. If you do have power going to the starter, then it's your starter.

For just oil. A lot of equipment has been contaminated with gas. So the shop vac would explode. lol

Actually, I didn't know it in those terms. As in loss of voltage from the solenoid. But I'm pretty sure it's not going to be an electrical issue, because this starter is making some kind of racket when it's engaged. I'm going to check to see if the shaft is bent, as you mentioned.
