    Older craftsman blower

Cool!! I've done that on a few items such as (original) fs80, bg75, McCullough chain saw, and echo backpack. So long as it gets the right air fuel mix, it will run. Thank goodness the carb main body hasn't really changed so you can do this.

Neighbor gave me a snapper self propelled walk behind 21" that had a Briggs big six with thrown rod.

Thanks Timbo. The key on my blade adapter was wider than the slot on the engine so i had to widen that. I'll buy the deflector JIC.

Timbo, JC did u have to modify the blade adapter on yours? I got the old FJ180 recently and i had to modify the key to fit. Also, being the exhaust is awfully close to the chute, yours did not melt the chute? I'm afraid to bag mine and melt the chute.

8 HP tecumseh chipper, replaced Carb, Fuel line, spark plug, it has spark, but STILL won,t start

"best I could get out of it was a backfire" That may be your problem. Take off the cylinder head and see if the valve(s) are closing. At Top dead center with both valves closed, try to turn the valve. if it easily turns, the valve is stuck open. If so, remove the valve, check the gap, grind down...

    Need new cylinder??

I got around to take it apart. The rings are stuck big time. I tried chiseling the rings out with no luck. There is no play in the connecting rod bearings. I guess the owner used plain gas and not a dust problem. Amazingly, the cylinder actually looks perfectly fine. The piston had much better...

    Need new cylinder??

Worn from dust - yeah i can see that happening. When i first started looking at it, i noticed the screws holding the air filter housing to the carb was loose and thus a little gap so makes sense it sucked in the dust. After all, there are dust deposits everywhere around the carb. It feels like...

    Need new cylinder??

I have a "chopsaw" "cut-off saw" K770 where the compression is too low - 60psi. Spark OK, spray starter straight into dry cyl no go. Looking from carb side, the piston looks perfectly fine if not better than some pistons that work. My first assumption is it needs a new cylinder\piston but as...

If you look at the seal, somewhere you will find info on what type of seal you have. Hydrostatic transmission problem?

I know. I'm just skeptical that if the noise is a sharp loud squeal (which is common when this trans is low\out of fluid) I would suspect low on fluid. You don't don't get a sharp squeal noise from parts submerged in oil(very muffled if any). My Deere has the exact same trans. I found out on...

    Hydrostatic transmission problem?

The trans squealing can be caused by low oil. With low oil maybe it is foaming(thus stop working) after using it for a few minutes... Look around the transmission. Do you see alot of oily dirt sticking the trans? That could point to leaking fluid thus being low and could explain your problem. Do...

If you have no luck finding a whole carb, you can also just replace the carb needle and seat: Needle and seat This is your cause of the fuel leaking(assuming the float moves freely up and down). That's strange how the carb lookup pulled up a push mower carb. This one uses a larger carb than...

What is the shelf life for lithium-ion batteries ?

Maybe not. if the battery case is held shut with screws, pull out that soldering iron and screwdriver - you can always replace just the batteries. Watch out as to not break the circuit board in the battery. Lithium batteries need this circuit to regulate usage and charge unlike NiCads.

Trying to decide on used Honda's - Which to get?

With the honda honda mower u posted, remove the bag and there is a plate to the left. Remove the plate and see if the gear box wobbles\turns with the shaft forward and back. Being pretty old, the drive shaft input bushing wears out. If so, the gear box wobbles, and the gears don't mesh.

    Rusty Gas Tank

After you clean it out, if u want you can coat the tank so it won't rust again. I don't endorse it but i used the Por-15 tank sealer on my Snowbird many moons ago because after cleaning, it would keep rusting. I surely didn't want it to rust a hole in the tank.

Won't start with air filter in

So you blow compressor air into the carb and it starts? I think what that does is create a greater than normal vacuum in the carb venturi thus it starts. That would mean in the carb some crud is making it harder for the fuel to flow up as it should. Post a model # or a pic of the mower as...
