    Echo mowers

The Scag is going to be considered a commercial unit. I think it's a good choice. It will give you much better service than the Toro residential units or the Echo for that matter. Toro and Exmark also have commercial units. Bad Boy used to carry them as well. I've had experience with the Toro...

It always gave a perfect cut. The drive system is better than any other on the market. I liked it having the spin on oil filter.

    Echo mowers

The Briggs and Stratton engine is another giveaway. If I were in the market for a walk behind mower, I would look for a commercial unit. The best walk behind mower that I ever owned was a 21" Snapper Ninja commercial.

    Echo mowers

Next question: Are you in the market for a commercial unit or residential unit? It looks like the Echo mowers are just Toro mowers in a different paint scheme.

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

I believe that the Scag Liberty would be a better fit for him. Some sales people just want to make a sale. A good sales person should know everything about the products that they are selling. There are handle bar extension kits and optional Scag handle bars available. There are also fine...

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

As far as the Gravely, I would spring for the ZTXL 42. It has the Hydro Gear ZT2800 transaxles. There is some adjustment in the Scag handle bars. There are handle bar extension kits available for the Scag. Ask the dealer. Go back to the Scag dealer and press him on the handle bar adjustment. The...

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

For my particular property, I calculated $41 per acre on a bi-weekly cut. I have 3 acres. $240×8=$1,920. It would like have been higher. It's closer to $100+ per acre now. That certainly adds up and can justify the purchase of a mower.

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

Yes, the ZT2800 is serviceable. However, some have exterior expansion tanks and others don't. It depends on the mower manufacturer. Most lower cost residential units use the EZT series hydros. They can be serviced however, there isn't a filter. The Gravely ZTXL 42 also has the Hydro Gear ZT2800

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

Scag has not gone downhill. Buying a mower from a big box store is setting yourself up for problems. First of all, it may not be assembled and set up correctly. You also may be getting old stock. If you have to have warranty work, you will have to take it to the nearest servicing dealer. They...

New Zero Turn Purchase - Toro Vs. Gravely

The Bobcat appears to be a decent unit on paper. Just a reminder, if you have gates, a 42" deck may not fit through. You wil need to consider that a 42" deck is around 43" wide on the outside.

    ISX800 Scalping on Right Side

The first thing I would look at is the transaxle mounting.
  21. M

    Issue with the deck

I once owned a MX5060. It had the Loncin made 708cc engine. The deck adjustment/hanger system was one of it's weaknesses. It had only two adjustment points. One up front and one on the side. I could never get it perfect. It was always slightly higher on one side.

    Oil Filter Tightening

PGI Northstar has purchased much of the First Brands offerings. Therefore, look for Briggs and Relko to be stocking filters made in Vietnam, China, Malaysia, and etc. https://www.truckpartsandservice.com/business/finance/article/15820708/first-brands-seeks-emergency-sale-of-filter-and-wiper-ip...

    Oil Filter Tightening

Yes, I know. I used the word "were" meaning past tense. After the current stock is gone, we will likely see a lot more offshore made oil filters. If Relko decides to keep their supplier in North America, they will have to contract with Mann+Hummel/Purolator.

    Oil Filter Tightening

Kohler oil filters were made by Champion Laboratories/FRAM for the last number of years. They were a good choice along with the FRAM/Champ equivalents. The base plate design worked great and they sealed well. The base plate is concaved and didn't bottom out on the mounting flange. Notice the...

    Blade sharpening

    Lawn mower battery struggles

I have an older Schumacher 10 amp/2 amp charger. It's fairly large. It does a great job and has an automatic shut off. However, I felt that a Battery Tender Jr. would be a better unit for maintaining my mower battery. The OEM battery for my Gravely is 5 years old and it fires the mower every time.

    Oil Filter Tightening

The problem could be the shape of the threaded base plate and thickness of the sealing gasket. Look at the business end of the oil filter. Is it flat, concave, or convex shaped? With a convex shaped base plate, that base plate may contact the filter mounting flange before the gasket is...

    This is my first Question

Most likely it's the seat safety switch. It may be a two prong or four prong switch. Test continuity with your ohm meter.
