As a basic old school rule to keep things simple that I use, I mix a oil cap full of oil per tank of fuel. If it smokes very lightly, you have enough oil. I have got 40-year-old 2-strokes that are still running strong.
More accurate method: Buy a pre-mix fuel measure container at the local hardware store or keep it simple and pay for the true fuel premix in the gallon cans. The ratio is actually 32 parts fuel to 1 part 2-cycle oil.
Do not use any Ethanol blend fuel unless you want trouble in the future
