Craftsman 917.289240 hard to engage blades

A friend gave me a leaf blower a few years ago. Since then I always blow the clippings off the deck when I'm through. Takes about two minutes. Before that I used a shop vac. Took a lot longer.

Craftsman 917.289240 hard to engage blades

The only names I know for most of the parts are the ones I see in the parts manual that came with it. When one of you says X and I ask if that's Y, it's just me trying to learn something; last thing I'd be likely to do on here is correct one of you guys.

It carries a pulley that tightens the mower belt when it is moved to the left? It moves freely. If I disconnect the clutch cable bracket from the deck, the lever moves freely. Otherwise, I can't move the lever at all. The deck has a small adjustment for cable tension, but I have it was...

    Craftsman Gas Tank

One thing I wondered about in reading that was how to hold the patch piece while heating it. Can you elaborate on that? thanks

Tecumseh engine cranks and dies immediately

I have a Craftsman 536.773500, which is a big string trimmer on wheels with a Tecumseh engine. After years of use it got to where it would crank and then die immediately. I concluded that the problem is that, it burns the prime almost instantly and then dies because it can't suck more gas out of...

    Introductory post

Hello, I'm Jimmy in North Charleston, SC. I have a Craftsman 917.289240 riding mower, which I'm told was built by Husqvarna. The manual's instructions for replacing the air filter are obviously for a completely different type of filter, and I didn't want to break something while trying to get...
