Craftsman won't crank after mowing lawn

That's why I'm hoping that it's the battery; don't want to have to pull the flywheel. BTW, the battery's dated May 2018; maybe the Minder deserves some credit for that. The battery that came with the mower when I bought it failed while it was still under warranty. That's when I bought my first...

Craftsman won't crank after mowing lawn

Thanks, Bert. Battery Minder is a charger that at least claims to switch over to "microsecond-pulse mode" once the battery is fully charged. I leave it hooked up to the mower whenever it's not in use. The wiring diagram in the book that came with it calls it an alternator, and I don't know any...

Craftsman won't crank after mowing lawn

All the model numbers are in the pdf. I keep this mower on a Battery Minder when I'm not using it. The first time I ran it this year, it cranked ok and I mowed for about an hour and stopped it to blow the clippings off the deck. Then it wouldn't crank; not even a click from the solenoid. I...

How to make file size smaller for pictures so that I can show pictures from my phone it keeps saying they are too large.

In your search engine type "compress jpg" or "compress png" or whatever file type your photos are. You'll get back lots of web sites that will do it for free. You upload the file to the website, tell it the level of compression that you need, and download the result. Also, sometimes I have to...

    Ignition coil

The file holding the picture is too big to upload to this website. There are places you can find online that will shrink the file size for you. Picture will still look good. Your file's name probably ends .jpg or .png. See what it is and search for a compressor for tha kind of file. E.G. "jpg...

    Should this gap be there?

The fan and the pulley are fine. So I don't need to worry about this gap? I thought about trying to tap the speed washer down tighter using a socket of the right size to tap on. Haven't tried that yet.

    Greasing 917.289240

I'd like to grease this tractor(Fig 1). The lube chart (Fig 2) shows 5 points to grease: the steering sector and 2 on each of the front wheels. The steering sector is easy to finds are the spindle zerks. The zerks for the front wheel bearings must be behind the hubcaps (Fig 3). Can you tell me...

    Craftsman 917.289240 stopped moving

Absolutely, and I have no idea. I'm hoping that somebody here knows. I was just riding along and cutting and suddenly it stopped moving for no apparent reason. Thanks for the replies.

    Craftsman 917.289240 stopped moving

Not sure that would have dislodged this stuff. Not dust; this was dirt and had taken the shape of the frame pieces and was stuck tightly.

    Should this gap be there?

Craftsman 917.289240 has gap under bypass arm on transaxle. The transaxle has a hook sticking out the back of the tractor frame. The hook connects to this arm and, when pulled disconnects the wheels from the drive so the tractor can be pushed by hand. The lever looks like it should fit down...

    Need replacement part

Craftsman 917.289240 The cover for the side opening in the deck is held on by two of these strap/hook fasteners The other one lost its hook and tore the rubber in the process. I can't find it in the parts list and don't know where to ask now that Sears is gone. Any good advice appreciated.
