    FS56 string trimmer gear grease

I just bought a FS56 and I do not see a place to grease the head. I do not think 56 needs greasing.

    On fuel and string

I finally figured out how to reload the spool. I have always had cheap trimmers that have to have the spool removed and manually loaded. How convenient if the dealer would have given my some instructions on loading. Also, I saw a video on youtube that stated that all Stihl trimmers come with...

    On fuel and string

I gave my new Stihl 56 a good workout today. Man, am I pleased with this trimmer. I had issues with line melting together and not feeding well but I can excuse that because I was cutting a lot of really thick, heavy weeds. Maybe I'm not loading it properly. The manual says the the loading...

    On fuel and string

I just bought a Stihl FS59. Sure wanted the 91 but not able today. Anyway, the 56 sounds like a beast and so far My little bit of weeds aren't even a legitimate test. Gotta go find some WEEDS! So, I bought some fresh 87 octane, filled it up and ran it a few minutes. THEN I read the manual and...

Carburetor diaphram cover plate vent hole

I opened it up. The diaphram does not seem damages and I see no obvious holes. However, the diaphram is stiff. So I'll replace it and the gasket.

Carburetor diaphram cover plate vent hole

I figured something along those lines. Another thing, I was reading that sitting with old gas will sticky-up the jet. Don't these things have a little needle thingy under the diaphram?

Carburetor diaphram cover plate vent hole

I have a troy bilt string trimmer, The carb has a metal plate covering the diaphram. The plate has a vent hole in it. I just replaced the primer bulb on this trimmer. When I pump the primer bulb it fills with gas and gas pours out of the vent hole on the plate. I'm thinking this is not right...

    Stihl's 4-mix engine

When googling 4 cycle trimmers there is no mention of a 4-mix engine. They all use separate oil and gas. Maybe thats because Stihl's 4-mix is such a recent addition to the market. So, is Stihl the only company offering a 4-mix engine?

    Gotta make a trimmer decision

The price for a carb doesn't seem so bad vs the hassle of rebuilding one to me. Probably different if your working on a lot of them.

    Gotta make a trimmer decision

Thanks for all your input, you guys. I guess I'll be going to the store and handle them to see whats comfortable and weigh that along with the price.

    Gotta make a trimmer decision

I was told that the 94 was lighter than the 91 wgich is important but that price ($359?) is pretty steep for me. BTW, what terminology do we use when we talk about 4 and 2 cycle engines vs 4 and 2 cycle fuel?

    Gotta make a trimmer decision

I was looking at the Stihl FS91 trimmer. Thats about my price limit...$300ish. So many people rave about Stihl. But now I am swayed toward Echo because I bought an Echo chainsaw and I am impressed with it. I have seen a lot of people swear that Echo is right up there with Stihl and as far as...

Why won't the throttle control close the chock?

Problem solved. I stumbled onto this video that shows my choke and the little finger, The choke is activated at 8:46 in the video. So I bent the finger (carefully) back to where it should be. The little finger just barely touches the chock lever, but I guess thats all it takes.
