    Stihl love/hate MS251C

I had a similar Stihl a MS250 I think. It never started up for my occasional use. I know a lot of professional gardeners and lawn care companies swear by Stihl but not me. I sold it and bought a Greenworks 80 volt chainsaw and never looked back. I have two batteries and they last as long as I...

    Great ethanol warning

When I was a kid in New Jersey my supermarket sold cans of Dry Gas that we put in our gas tanks in winter. I don't see this anymore. Didn't it absorb water in gas tanks?

Briggs and Stratton Small Engine Questions

I did not know about the PJ1 brand of filter oil. I think this mower is only one I own that requires oil in foam filter. Thanks for the great tips. This seems to be a great forum. Some of them that I belong to have some condescending respondents, scolding us like, "you did not know that?" The...

Briggs and Stratton Small Engine Questions

Wow, first off, thanks for a very concise, well thought out response. Very much appreciated. I see better now why the filter should be oiled, but lightly. The manual clearly says "saturate" so I would have dunked it in bucket of some sort. I understand that it does not need to be drenched. In...

Briggs and Stratton Small Engine Questions

Thanks. My local B&S dealer said it was "6 of one, half dozen of another" if I oil or not. I use this mower as a trim mower that the zero turn can't get, so does not get a lot of use. I understand now the purpose of the oil bath; makes sense. But have never had a gas engine that did not have a...

Briggs and Stratton Small Engine Questions

I have a small 158cc B&S engine that came with a 2006 Bolens push mower. The manual has some instructions how to clean the foam air filter. It says to clean with dish detergent, squeeze dry and then soak, saturate with motor oil. To me that seems counterproductive. Why would I clean the filter...

    Loose Steering Control Arms

I have a two year old Z254F Zero Turn Husqvarna machine and the drive "paddles" have gotten too loose. I see how to tighten them, but cannot put a Torx wrench on the end of the bolt so that it does not move when I have a socket on the nut end. The tracking bolt is in the way. What is the best...

    Husqvarna Z254 Speeds

I pulled the plugs and the engine did change pitch and sound, until I temporarily held the wire to the plug and it resumed normal sounds on both sides. There was a noticeable change on each side when I took the plug boot off. Doesn't this mean that both cylinders were working?

    Husqvarna Z254 Speeds

Thanks. It seems to start and run okay, just loses power on small hills Will check today. Appreciate your time and care to help me out. George

    Husqvarna Z254 Speeds

I am a first time owner of a zero turn mower, Husqvarna Z254. I have had it now for about 50 hours and still getting used to it. For the most part, I am very happy with it. It cuts better and faster than the old John Deere it replaced. But I am noticing that on slight hills, it loses power...
