    Ryobi bumphead from hell

Finally got the HD bubble pack warranty replacement bump head apart. The two halves fit so tightly no lubricant , however fine, can allow easy access. A guy on youtube pried several mating radii apart and ground down some areas with caveat ( my take...too much and the halves will part in...

    Ryobi bumphead from hell

The basic unit is good so far , tearing into wet, thick weeds as well as any other 2 stroker. The point of the thread is how far off the mark Ryobi went apparently trying to appease those who cannot rewind the old style bumphead with 20 feet of line. Concentration on that set up a spaghetti...

    Ryobi bumphead from hell

My first trimmer was a 725R and a great unit it was. Then a Craftsman which just died so tried Ryobi again. The unit is ok but the bump head is a hand ( and wrist)-wringing problem. Is this new design to simplify owner operation? I think most would say all is well until that first line jam...

3-2-2025 No start yesterday traced to failed fuel pump. Took ancient (24 yrs) one from DYT4000 (same, Mikuni) and started right up. Also found split vacuum tube feed into Mikuni. Onliner replacement $7.

Melted and fused bump head "string"

The "feel" of the string is "pliable" when wrapping, not brittle. The weather here is humid mostly which may have increased longevity. And...as I abuse the string against walls , fencing and dirt the tip of the string is narrowed to perhaps half its diameter of .090," also "curled." (How...

Melted and fused bump head "string"

Sorry, did not describe bump head. Do not know models. It is one with knurled round plastic , left hand threaded nut. The wrap direction is shown with an arrow. It has two string outlets of brass which wear out over time. The shaft is a hollow tube with a removable tension spring. I have...

Melted and fused bump head "string"

Yep , my string is 25 years old off a big roll, but aged plastic not like a fine wine? What is the upgrade?

Melted and fused bump head "string"

After 20 years of whacking...a first . High grass mixed with black berry , 31cc craftsman 2 stroke on wide open throttle for 5 minutes. Bump head bound up from the heavy work? Common as unyielding weeds do not all cut, but pull on the spooled .090" plastic "string" wrap inside the bump...

Just as with the ground drive belt this deck belt a PIA for me. It is in and works well, but (surprise) the owners manual instruction of 3/8 breaker bar to relieve idler pulley tension did not work (for me). The new oem belt is very stiff and with deck in lowered position some slack is lost...
