I have a craftsman 7 horse lawn mower. Its starts fine. But once you turn it off an attempt to restarted it will not start. You have to keep trying for about a half an hour for it to start. What could the problem be?

I am having a starting problem with my tiller. If I take off the air filter and spray starting fluid in the carb it starts and runs fine. Without "priming" it this way it will not start. What could be causing this?

I have a 1976 Ariens 2hp tiller. I cannot get it to start unless I remove the air filter and cover the carb with my hand. After that it runs fine. What might the problem be?
