Engine quit running, now won't start

That will obviously work, but cutting up a lamp cord makes me realize I have lost sight of the bigger picture. Instead of a spark tester, in order to see if the spark plug is any good, all I really need to do is buy a new spark plug. If it doesn't work, I will get the spark tester, too, and...

Engine quit running, now won't start

I can't pull the starter cord while holding the spark plug against the engine with any real force, which is why I used the tape and lamp cord. How hard do you have to pull the cord to get a spark? Or do you have to pull the cord a certain distance, but not necessarily hard? When I did hold...

Engine quit running, now won't start

There is no where I can hold or tape it to the engine block where I can see it when I pull the starter cord. I tried taping it to the engine block and listening for the "snapsnapsnap" sound as it sparks, but I couldn't hear anything. Next, I cut the cord off an old lamp I wasn't using...

Engine quit running, now won't start

No, no I didn't. How would I do that?

Engine quit running, now won't start

You all were instrumental in my successfully tapping and reaming a new spark plug hole. I was able to mow the lawn twice with absolutely no issues, but I was just finishing up the lawn yesterday, and the lawnmower just quit 9/10ths of the way thru. I was hoping for some additional help as I'm...

Problems Tapping/reaming new spark plug hole

After I let the loctite cure for the full 24 hours, I cranked that sucker right up, and it ran like a champ! I'm going to change the oil, and get to work! thanks for all your suggestions and help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

Problems Tapping/reaming new spark plug hole

For all of you who replied, I would like to say thanks. I really appreciate the time and effort you all took. Combining what you all suggested I do, with what I COULD do, I abandoned the ratchet in favor of a drill on the very slow setting. I put the mower in a position where I could put some...

Problems Tapping/reaming new spark plug hole

this is the spark plug hole. It looks like most of the threads have been removed by the tool without new threads having been cut. I have no idea if that's how it's supposed to work, but I suspect not.

Problems Tapping/reaming new spark plug hole

It is a Tecumseh LV195XA, spec 362089E, D.O.M. 07074GG1785, FAM: 7TPSK.196BC, off a Toro 22" Recycler. That's all that was on the engine identification decal. I don't know the type, trim or code, or where to find them.

Problems Tapping/reaming new spark plug hole

I had a spark plug blow out of the engine, damaging the threads. I've got a combination tap/reamer that's supposed to remove the old threads, and cut new ones, so I can screw/loctite an insert into the new threads to hold the spark plug. I watched a few videos that make it seem pretty...
