Hit it from the back it doesn't have to be 5 pounds, it's what I would use. Maybe try wally world or a hardware store. Pass on the dead blow, H.F. has 4 pound mini sledgehammer I believe.

Have you removed the old wire terminal? A crimp should work. But seal it .

Does it have just one nut on the wheel? You need a 5 pound mini sledgehammer, something bigger than 2 pounds. Hit the wheel dead on without a pipe. Spin the wheel and hit again.

Are you hitting it from behind the wheel? You may need a bigger hammer?

Thanks but I need the turnbuckle that hooks the shift lever arm to the transmission arm. It's a plastic piece

My Murray select shifter has broken. It's a plastic turn buckle. Local shop was no help. Transmission lever has f-n-r,the adjustable turnbuckle has broken. Product # 960440008 Model #MS18542. It isn't shown in parts diagram and not in the general transmission book.
