When I retired my old Wisconsin Robin 4 stroke engine, I opted to repower with a Kawasaki FJ180V. It's a wonderful replacement engine that Snapper used some time ago. You just have to make sure you order the right shaft length for the Snapper deck, and you will need to change the mounting hole...
Thanks bertsmobile1,
So a gator blade is only intended for doing side discharge or bagging? I don't side discharge, just bag. If that's the case, I would stick with the hi-lift with the wings for bagging. It's awesome.
I also have a Snapper Ninja blade. Would that work for mulching with the...
I'm all over using those wing attachments when I use the bag (see photo)! I swear this kind of blade will suck earthworms out of the ground. The bag always remains pressurized by the air volume pushed into it.
BUT - when I try to mulch the grass using a mulching blade (like a Gatorblade), I...
I'm a homeowner, not a commercial landscape person with a 12k sq-ft area of grass lawn. I use an '80s vintage 21" hi vac Snapper to mow and bag clippings. I do occasionally mulch when the grass is dry, but my wet grass tends to clog up the underdeck & discharge chute very quickly. For that...
I fixed it, pretty simple. It was not the transmission itself. The bracket holding the pulley that is attached to the transmission had become loose so the drive belt was becoming intermittently tight with that bracket being loose and moving around. After removing the right drive wheel I could...
I have an '80s vintage 21" Snapper hi-vac that I've retrofitted with a Kawasaki FJ180V several years ago, swapped out the deck, went to steel wheels and many other parts. It has worked great and I'm very pleased with it. But recently it developed a problem where the mower won't roll backwards...
FJ180V is an awesome engine. I made the swap from an '80s vintage Wisconsin Robin to the Kaw FJ180V probably 10 years ago. It's been rock solid, powerful and reliable. One thing that helps is using non-ethanol gas if you can.
