Next year in 2013 I swear im going to combat these no name lawn cutters!!! The next time Im driving down the road and see a crew cutting grass with no name on thier truck, im going to take a picture and write down thier plate number. I will then turn it over to the department of agriculture. Im tired of these guys. They dont pay taxes, insuarance, or fees. I just got done paying $2200.00 for a year of insuarance, fees, and permits. Im going to call the dept. of agriculture to find out if I can combat these no name guys. Hopefully they will work with me on this.

You are probably wasting your time. I don't know what the laws their are, but in a lot of places all you need or required to have for the business is a DBA and a Tax Receipt Number. No body says you have to have a name on your truck to advertise.

I have no name on my truck or on the shirts I wear. I pay taxes, I pay insurance just like the ones with there names painted on their trucks. You'll spend a lot of time taking pictures and tag numbers with not a lot of satisfaction. Myself, I don't have that kind of time. I'm to busy.

I been told that here in Wisconsin that the no name lawn business are not following laws.
After hearing all your feed back, I guess it makes sense that you don't have to have a name on your truck if so chosen. Here in Wisconsin a state trouper can pull you over for inspection. They can fine you for not having trailor brakes and even for not having safety gas cans. I paid $50 bucks for just one safety can alone. And the state boys do actually pull trucks over around here.
Maybe that's why some people don't have names, so that they don't get pulled over. But on the same note a trouper can pull any truck over. Oh we'll I guess I'll just keep to myself and not worry about no name company's.
thanks for the feed back.

I don't have signs on my truck either, but I'm licensed both city and county where I live, and as far as I know it's optional, at least I've never been hasseled for it, and I've been in bus. since 95. The main reason that I don't is because I like to park my equipment at home, and cover my trailer with a tarp, and the city has all kinds of BS rules about parking company trucks at residences over night. I have thought of having some magnetic signs made that could easily be removed, but have never gotten around to it.

I also do not have a sign I pay taxes insurance... I have a trailer and 80 percent of the time I don't use it I load my equipment in the back of my truck and drive like that (much much easier finding parking) I have plenty of clients I just perfer to push mow. Bigger lawns I use. My rider and trailer I run and price like the no name guys and pay my bills by stuck up people who won't touch a 20 lawn. Every property I touched gets mowed edged weedeated leaves blown out of shrub beds and most of them have me prune. So thank you big companys. :) and go ahead call on them your going to be dissapointed if you try to take their lawn and they won't pay you nearly enough :)

here in mid michigan you also need a DOT number on your truck as well as your name and phone number and of course that all comes with added expense, truck, trailer inspections every year, DOT physical every two years, fire ext, safety triangles, plus every thing in your trailer better be tied down to specs. The DOT officer likes to stop lawn care providers that dont have a name on their truck and hassel them. major expense and lost down time. many people have tried to fight it but lost. its a weight issue with anything weighing over 10,000 lbs truck and trailer combined

In Alabama the DOT was aggravating a while back but they have stopped hassling that class of trucks.

People tending to other people's business is why we have all of these stinking rules and regulations to begin with. If a person wants to cut some body's yard or several yards or what ever he should not have to deal with all of the government mess and rules and regulations associated with it. All of those laws and rules and regluations are designed for two things. First to bleed money out of people and second to keep competition to a minimum for the big guy. I don't know about where you live but down here where I live taking pictures of people and doing that kind of mess will end up getting you hurt bad. If it were that way in other places we would see some of this mess ended. We need less rules and laws not more.
