For lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment, most have mower numbers and engine numbers. Mower manufacturers do not make the engines they put on said equipment. So the mower will have numbers like serial and model as well as the engine will have some form of numbers on it.

That is the consumer layman model number. What we normally need is the 917 or 247 model number from the service number tag as that get us to the correct variation of the mower.

I suspect you have a MTD version and BTW that is not a gas pedal it changes the tension on drive belt which affects the variable speed pulley. Gas pedals affect the engine speed.

This is why they call it an Auto Drive model.
