After 35 years my K301 lost it's spark. I replaced the points, condenser and coil with new parts twice, each time with different new parts in case something I got new was bad.
I mixed and matched the new parts also. The only part I can't test are the condensers. Hard to believe I could get two that were bad.
I tested each new coil with an ohm meter and they check out good. All connections are good, all grounds are good, point gap is correct .020.
Crank key is in tact and straight. Flywheel magnets are magnetic. Anyone have any ideas? I have never run into this before.

Please post engine spec number so we know which electrical setup you have. This manual may be of some help. Section 8. Im assuming you have a setup using an automotive style coil. I know assuming is not a good idea, but I’ve been wrong before. A couple more things I would check. 1. Do you have the coil wired properly? Negative side of the coil goes to points. 2. Are you sure you have twelve volts go to the coil? 3. Both points and condenser have a good clean and tight ground connection?

K301T Serial # 6072075 Spec # 47534d - I have a copy of this manual,it doesn't go into too much detail for the magneto with points and condenser. Thanks

The first 10 pages give you a good overview on how the magneto ignition system works. I don’t know how much more I will need. The only part of this system that is hard is setting the timing. Other than that, easiest system to to work on.

That's my problem, I have been working on my own small engines for years and never encountered this issue. You're right, it should be easy!

If this is a flywheel magneto engine and not battery try opening and closing by a couple thousandths each side of .020. Kohlers a picky about timing between the magnets/coil and points. Just a couple thousandths will make a difference.
