kawasaki fs730v-bs07 coils

have a kawasaki fs730v-bs07 that i have replaced the coils run good for a little while then shut down coil on the right coil was real hot , no spark so changed coils again run for couple hours then stop would not start checked for spark no spark. my question what would cause the coils go bad. used after market coils not oem

Could just be an aftermarket coil issue, But could also be caused by battery voltage backfeeding the coils causing them to burn out. Even momentary battery voltage at the kill tab on the coil will instantly burn them out.

The issue is likely not using OEM parts. You might have saved a few bucks, but it has cost you a lot of time. The Kawasaki replacement coil part number is either 21171-0740 or 21171-0809 (new, superseded number). Make sure the air gap is set correctly. Coils will get very hot with heat soak from the engine.

Applying voltage to the coil could cause the diode to fail internally. Typically, this would not affect the spark.

What weird here is that the 0740 was superseded to 0743 previously which is still a valid PN. Just ran across this less a week ago on another Kawasaki engine. File has been updated at that time. So I am keeping the 0743 as an alternate.

Personally I wonder why the change from 0743 to 0809 if the 0743 was previously the supersede unless they also superseded the 0743.

Kawasaki used the 0743 at one point as an attempt to use the same part across all engine models. They quickly found out that this does not work the best. The 0743 is the number one coil for the 852 and 999cc series engines. The coils listed above are the service numbers for the 603 and 726cc models.
