Does anyone know why these toro self propelled time master transmission fail to drive. I've checked the cable and cable cam, they seem fine. The cable pulls the transmission arm which activates the transmission to turn the wheels, and it does turn, but, the drive strength/power is weak and so the mower won't propel. Or one wheel turns but the other doesn't when raised off the ground. Very frustrating. As I've seen videos of these mowers really moving along when engaged. Any help appreciated. I will endeavor to attach a photo of the original transmission I have replaced. With a new one, and, what do you know, it does the same thing.

have you replaced the belt?
since it appears to use a V belt., its possible the V belt or the V pulley has worn. when this happens the effective length of the belt changes... looser. so the cable may be engaging fully, but the belt is not transferring power like it should

I will try, I noticed the pulley being turned by the belt, being turned by the engine. I cracked open the old transmission, there is a piece of metal, when the lever is pulled, pushes on a bearing, which pushes on the diff gear, which locks the diff to create drive. So I bent it a little to try to get more push. The movement of push is only small, to engage drive. Who knows.

Possible causes:
Belt worn and needs to be replaced.
Gearbox worn and not engaging.
Wheel plastic gears worn and not engaging.
Cable hanging up and needs to be lubricated.
 
Please post the model and serial numbers. That way I can see the entire drive system. I’m doubting the transmission is the problem.
