ISX2200 dies suddenly when mowing

This is a new mower that's been working fine, 9.6 hours. Today after 10-15 minutes of mowing normally, it suddenly died. Put handles out, set brake, the mower primes and starts right back up. But the moment I drop the E-brake, the mower dies. It's as though a safety is being tripped. If I wait 10 minutes or so with it off, it will start and run normally for another 5 minutes or so, then the sequence repeats. The seatbelt is on a fastened. Any ideas? The only adjustment I have made, and it was just before this started, was the left handle had become very stiff to move in/out. I backed off the nylock nut that controls the in/out tension in this motion. I haven't put the nut back in the original (tight) position.

Thanks,

Doug

Hello M.,

Anytime you make a help request, include the product ID label information and the engine label information. This greatly reduces guessing and "once upon a time stories".

This problem sounds like a dealer needs to be involved so they can get the factory tech support involved. There are likely multiple reports of this problem already reported that the dealer would have access to.

Ferris ISX2200 zero turn.
Under warranty, so if possible, take it to dealer. If you look at it yourself, first thing is to tighten the left steering arm back up. Then if still a problem, sounds like intermittent seat switch or emergency brake switch safety problem. If two wire safety, you can temporarily bypass for testing with a jumper wire.

I would look there.

Was working fine before you messed with it right?

Took it to the dealer, the problem was apparently a loose ground wire off the starter. I was a bit skeptical, but after getting it home I cut about 3 acres without any problems.

The main ground cable connected to the engine was most likely the cause. That or the starter solenoid ground wire.

Wire harness problems can be tricky to find because everyone overlooking the wiring and connections.
