Starting Trouble Honda GX-340

How does one test the Low Oil sensor?
It has a module with two wires coming from it. One wire goes to the ON-OFF switch and the other goes to a probe that is screwed in the crankcase.

When wires are disconnected, should the probe show continuity to the engine frame?
Should the module show continuity between wires, or show Open?

I am guessing, but only guessing, that the sensor is OK because I get a spark with the spark tester. It is a weak, yellow spark- but something.

Hopefully this evening I can start investigating the engine.

"To test a generator low oil sensor, disconnect the sensor wire harness and attempt to start the unit; if it starts, the sensor is likely faulty. Alternatively, use a multimeter to check for continuity to ground while the engine has proper oil levels; a functioning sensor should show no continuity (open circuit) when oil is full."

Experimenting showed that ground to sensor is open until oil is low. When oil is low, the sensor uses the wire to short ignition to frame, killing ignition.
 
Today, I was able to re-test spark. It was weak. I cleaned the rust off of the magnet and the laminated arms of the ignition. I set the gap and the spark test was strong & blue.
I suppose that the rust made the gap smaller? (Guessing)

Next, I adjusted the valves' rocker clearance. Intake gap was correct. Exhaust was several thousandths too large. It runs well.

ODD-
I noticed two black areas on the foam air filter. I can't figure out where they came from. The paper filter below it is spotless. The filter has 2 hours on it. Do you guys have an idea? (Photo below)

PS: Stuff You All May Already Know
Interesting Discovery About Coil Gap Setting:
There are 2 pair of slots in the plastic fan. One can align either pair with the laminated legs of the coil to allow a feeler gauge to slip in straight. I found that helpful.


Interesting Discovery About Adjusting Valve Rockers with this GX-340 engine:
Removing the recoil starter housing reveals a tiny triangle stamped into the hub into which the recoil fits to turn the engine over. When that triangle is facing straight up, the piston is at Top Dead Center (Compression or Exhaust) When there is no tension on the rockers, the piston is at TDC for compression & ready for valve setting. It's never knew that until I noticed the triangle and investigated.
