Doesnt want to climb hills any more, need help (please)

Took my older Craftsman Rider out for the spring ran pretty good and then I starting to go up and down a slope and it would kind of just sit there after a while the wheels would not spin Engine ran OK but would not move once I got on level surface it was much better I'm just kind of thinking out loud but could this possibly be the drive I bought this a year ago and have no idea the last time it was changed Any help would be appreciated Thanks so much
 
You are going have to help us help you by posting the model number from the serial number tag.

Sucker probably packed up with wet grass clippings slipping the drive belt.

Mice chewing the belt? Bad pulley bearings?
 
I had one once that wouldn't go up hill but there was a tree in the way.

Seriously though, if its hydrastatic, some models have an adjustment as to how much pressure in reverse vs forward.
Will it back up the hill and not go forward?

Again, model, transaxle model, maybe a picture or two will help.
