stayed home from work today and worked on a lot of mowers to get them ready for spring. installed a new tranmission in a Toro 20017, rebuilt carb on Craftsman push mower, rebuilt carb on Lawnboy 10323 (great machine 2 stroke), rebuilt carb on John Deere 14SB, replaced starter rope on Snappper push mower (1995 model). installed new wheels on a Craftsman self propel, checked over a Honda HR194 and stared at an 1980's Snapper that needs to much work.mowerpics 004.jpgmowers6sale 001.jpgmowers6sale 010.jpg

I've been a computer technician for 8+ years, I'm very much into electronics and anything to do with computers but ever since last year, I've dabbled here and there in small engine stuff (mostly a lawn mower out of necessity to eliminate weeds & voles on property) and I'm hooked. Started with 1 lawn mower, now I've got 2. Also have a 5hp rototiller, 2 cycle string trimmer, 2 cycle mantis-style tiller, and even got into an old Honda CT90 with a 6hp engine. I'm absolutely loving small engine work and I do plan to get to the point where I can rebuild various small engine implements as a hobby and to make a little cash on the side. It really is addictive (as is this forum).

well had a pretty good day today, sold my HR194 and a craftsman push mower, sold a bicycle and got a new landsape customer, he dropped off two craftsman mowers with Honda 160's and a mini billy goat to fix. I also picked up a 86 Snapper and a club cadet for $40.00,

What's a "club cadet"?

I enjoy working on and tinkering with all this lawn care junk, up to a point. There are certain brands that are so cheaply made I try to stay clear of them, but it's great when you can bring something back to life that was fairly easy and quick to fix, and actually get paid for your time...:thumbsup:

I just tinker around on the small engines i have. A freind of mine has been talking to me about starting a small repair shop doing small repair from replacing power cord to working on yard tractors. I rewired the tractor, rebuilt carbs, replaced parts on engines, fixed and balanced the blades on mower decks. one day one of his freinds had him bring their yard tractor to me, to find out what was wrong with it, found a spindle bad on it from a unbalanced blade. one end was 3 onces off from the other end

Sold the Yardman and picked up a self propel Craftsman, have two folks coming over tonight to purchase mowers and a customer to pick up his repaired mowers. i end up putting most of my profit back into more mowers to repair and sell.
