Hydraulic oil filter location?

Hello, could anyone please advise where I would find the hydraulic oil filter on this Hustler FasTrak model 926501 with a Honda 20HP engine? The serial number begins with 0603, which I understand is not a sealed system. Grateful for any insight!

Not if you go thru a Hydro Gear Dealer. Of course we may have to order the parts.

But as for the filter it is in the bottom of each hydro unit so they must come out of the mower and turned upside down

Just had a PLASTIC wheel blow out on a newer walmart era Snapper pusher. Think I found the last one on Earth. Even scamazon and fleabay had nothing. Got to fix it as it belongs to the wifey LOL.

Plastic let go around the axle. Wife was mowing in a straight line. All of a sudden was like the mower was hit by a torpedo and listed the deck over. Crazy.......
 
This model does not have spin-on filter like the large commercial units.

These are "lifetime" fine screen filters and can be cleaned once removed. This is not a quick process. Each wheel motor/transmission needs to be removed and turned upside down for access.

Personally, If the drive motors are working well, leave them alone and keep the fluid level correct.

Another option is to suck what fluid you can out and top it off with synthetic 20W-50 oil.
 
Here's the problem that has to be resolved on the OP end. Hustler is listing in the IPL two different transaxle designs.

One (Hydro Gear 310-2400) uses a 50990 filter which requires pulling the hydros to change.

The other design (Hydro Gear 310-2600) uses a 51931 filter which can be changed without pulling the units. Also can be drained.

So the OP got to find out which design his FasTrax uses. I wish Hustler didn't do this as to confuse everyone as it depends which IPL you are looking at as to which one it is as to if Hustler could have used the 310-2400 or the 310-2600.

Sorry it takes time to go through all this info and I am quite busy this time of year. I just the customers did not wait to the last minute to get things repaired when they knew it was broken last Fall. Now they are wanting it done yesterday. Well it takes time to get the parts.

And darn it is nearly 2 AM here I better get to sleep as I got a doctor appointment in the morning.
 
This is excellent information, I appreciate your time and expertise. It appears I have the 310-2600 with the drain plug and filter just below it. I'll get the right tools to remove them and hopefully will be back on the grass soon. Thank you all again!
