Belt slipping or transmission gone bye bye ?

Drive belt finally broke. I replaced it with OEM part
I don’t see any tension adjustments
It will now go on flat lawn but no longer up slight hills
Belt slipping or transmission finally gave up the ghost ? How would one tell?
 
Could you post the Model number of the mower? Should be on a tag under the seat.
Some mowers have 2 drive belts. On from engine to trans and one on the trans. Usually called a lower drive belt, IIRC.
 
Put rear end on jack stands with belt installed & give it a go. Also check idler pulleys for drive belt by removing them & check center bearings for wear by spinning them by hand. If you hear metal noise or rattling replace idlers Post 917....... model number from under seat & any numbers from transaxle.
