190cc vs 163cc OHV.

Hi guys,
I am planning to replace my snapper 7.25 190cc self propelled lawn mower since the height adjustment lever broke and I have to get a new rear-assembly. I have a 1 acre lawn with fair amount of slope. Just wondering if the newer 163 cc OHV have similar power as the 190cc. I am trying to get the most powerful engine in the sub-25 inch category.

I gave my son a 140cc OHV Briggs 09P702 SP and he pulls a small 20* slope with it fine. I'd guess the 163cc will be fine BUT why not fix the Snapper? Esp if the engine is good. Snappers or Toros should last 50+ years.

Yes it is. Depends on what grass you have. I have a full yard of Tifway. The tiny leaved cousin to Bermuda. Ultra dense and tough to cut when it gets tall. Talking about one mower wheel setting too high bogs a 190cc Briggs. My Snapper Commercial with the Honda GXV-160 is way worse. It will lock the motor up if you don't slow waaay down. Sharp blades required.....

Get a 190cc Briggs or this 10ft lb of torque beast.

The rear assembly costs more than $100, I wish I could just replace the height adjustment lever, soldering the broken lever piece won't work according to my mechanic. The snapper is nearly 10 years old but runs well.
I live in Connecticut.

Post up your mower number. A height adjustment lever shouldn't be too much I wouldn't think. Let's find out.
 
My model is SP80 (725EX) (7800930). the lever is attached to the rear axle assembly (707927 or 703546), it's not a separate part. There is no part number for the height adjustment lever.

For $115 I think I would make other arrangements
