ignition question

just acquired a old mower, briggs powered- #s stamped on shroud 60102 0301-01 76052803 I interpret this as made in 1976, sticker on shroud say 2hp. can I convert to electronic ignition, and what would the required parts be ?
 
You *might* be able to purchase a newer Magnetron igniton coil, but I do not know what the part number would be, would have to have the same distance between the mounting studs, Or you could buy one of these modules.

one wire goes to ground (engine block) the other ties into what would be your points wire. you cut it from the points, and splice into the wire so it goes from the new module to the coil.
 
Should be the 591420 coil. There should tons of them out on non working engines.

used on 2hp to 4hp engines, such as 60000, 80000, 90100, Quattro, and Classic

Correct. I just normally remove the screws holding the old module and then pull the point wire out without removing anything else. If you decide to remove the points and condensor most of the kits come with the plug that you drive into the point plunger hole to seal it.
 
You might like to hear my project- I have a "king-o-lawn "edger was my dads about a 1959 year built. I semi restored it a few years back, and still use it. I ran across a "king o lawn" reel mower for cheap, and want to get it running, and restored, just to match the edger- probably wont use on my large lawn, but thought would be fun little project
