mower blades don't engage immediately

When pulling up on the switch to engage the deck blades, they don't start to spin right away. Sometimes it takes 10-20 seconds for them to 'turn on'.

This is a new problem. I replaced the switch but the problem is still there.

Any suggestions?

I'll have to check. Thanks for the suggestion, although I'm not sure how that would have suddenly changed.

it doesn't suddenly change, the clearance changes slowly over time and hits a point were it starts causing issues.
