Kohler Courage Twin Cam Startup Noise...

I have two 20hp SV600's that make this exact same kind of grinding noise at startup. What is it? One only has 4 hours on it.

Also, this one pops out the exhaust once when I turn it off. That means it's running rich, right? What do I do?

Question number one. Starter.
Question number 2. Did you move the throttle back to 3/4 before you turned it off? It is not unnormal for Kohlers to pop if not at 3/4 throttle and all settled in.
