Here's my new toy. 2011 Craftsman LT2000. 19.5 HP Briggs Gold Series engine, 42" deck, foot pedal CVT. I have a 1/3 acre yard but the ol' arthritis is getting to my hip so mowing with a walk-behind self propelled is starting to get painful. Enter the yard tractor. I make a quick pass around the yard with the Lawn Boy to cut close to the bushes and planters, then cut the rest with the Craftsman. The green machine is a 5 year old Lawn Boy 2310 variable speed self propelled. Nice mower.

I use my 4 post garage lift to get at the blades for sharpening and other maintenance I might need to do. Beats lying on my back on the concrete floor. I also have some old steel auto ramps for quick stuff.

So far I've added a front bumper kit, a digital hour meter and disabled the switch that kills the engine when it's shifted into reverse with the blades running. Now it mows in reverse...no fuss!. I'm thinking of wiring a switch into the headlight circuit. Pretty dumb design to have the lights on all the while the engine is running. The deck height settings seem a little too low, I can only cut in setting 4 or 5 (highest). Anything lower is like a golf green, too low! What's up with that?

Fun to drive! I actually enjoy mowing now.

Here's a couple of oldies from my younger days. First two are from about 1960. It was a 7.5 HP Simplicity. I used to mow the lawns with it at my parents house and my grandparents. The red one was my dad's Ingersoll from around 1989 or so. My dad installed a hand crank starting device on the Simplicity with a windup spring so I could start the thing. Crank it about 15 times, flip the handle over and push it down to release the spring and turn over the engine. Took a few tries, but it worked. No electric start in those days. Still got that Radio Flyer, wish I had the mower too.

Here's my Lawn Boys. 8232 (1974) 7226 (1976) 8243 (1987). All three run great and make mowing fun. :)

nothing like the smell of 2-stroke smoke and fresh cut grass roasting on the muffler!

This is my old mower,"Powerpro" 42 inch cut ,18hp. Takes both hands to turn it,Top speed is about 3mph, Kindda has run flat tires, about every 2 laps you have to fill them, only way to start it is with a jump. But,Hey! The first 14 years I had it, it was a good mower. Forgot to mention. I have a hill in my back yard. Mower likes to pop out of gear when going down the hill. With no brakes, that just adds too the trill.

Heres my new mower. Ariens 46 inch cut 22hp V-twin B/S, hydrostatic drive. Instead of taking 2.5 hr to mow my lawn. It only takes an hour.

Here is my new one after my X500 got stolen. It is a 2011 ZTrak 910A with 54" deck. After riding this zero turn I'll never go back. Got it at the local Jame River Equipment in Statesville, NC. for $6999 plus tax.

Good looking ZTrak and great looking Vette. Shame to hear what happened to the X500.

Thanks Kingwood990 for the kind words.

Yeah it was a shame; I'm 43 years old and that's the first time I had something stolen from me. My homeowners covered full replacement value minus my $250 deductible of the 2 year old X500.

Glad to hear your insurance covered the tractor. I would not know what to do if something happened to my X520 being that it is my main machine and my most expensive toy. Shoot me a PM any time if you want to talk about cars, tractors etc.

Great looking machine! I got talked out of a zero-turn because of the inclines around my pond and in my ditch. So bought the 320 with the 48" deck. Now I see a lot of zero-turns doing inclines a lot steeper than mine with no problems.:ashamed:. Wish now that I had done more research. Wifes uncle who is 93 and a WW11 vet mows with a new Ztrak and loves it! I guess with age come wisdom. Hope I don't have to wait 23 more years to get smart!!
