Very nice! Looks great sitting there, that's one heck of a machine and that engine is awesome. I remember picking up the only snapper I ever bought new, in march 1998. What a cool experience. Congrats!

Thanks! It is always nice to get a nice new mower.
I went to get it on Valentines Day during a snow storm. It was worth the drive!
It looks like a very solid and simple machine. Just how I like them. I like Honda engines. They run smooth and are silent. Once the snow melts and the grass will grow (in May), I will get some stripping pictures.

Now I have to learn on how to maintain that friction transmission. Never worked with that before.

Hey there it is! That is sweet. I bet you can't wait for the grass to come in up there. I do see what you mean on the lever sticking out. Hopefully it's not bothersome in use. Keep us updated!

Sweet mower! About the only thing that happens on that drive system is the idler pulley bracket under the mower will sometimes get stuck after a couple seasons of mowing and you'll loose tension on the lower drive belt. Keep the bracket lubricated where the bolt goes through it and the frame. Those mowers like a good sharp blade too! I've got 1980 Snapper 21" commercial with a Tecumseh V-50 on it still going.

Thanks guys! Yea, it is a very nice mower.

It will be in full use next week and I will let you know how it goes. I don't know about mulching tho. I won't mulch just yet, the grass is going to grow way too fast to be able too mulch.

Cashman, I am not sure where this braket is. Got any pictures? I've heard that one of the cables tends to brake also. I'll order an extra one or two. Any other parts I should have on hands?

It keeps tension on the belt that goes around the crankshaft above the blade. The bracket is in an area that is prone to collecting clippings and other debris. As far as parts go, you should get several seasons out of the two belts and the friction disc. But when it comes time to replace any of them, go ahead and replace both the belts and the round friction disc at one time. You might keep one of the springs for the idler bracket and the drive unit on hand as I've had them break before. Mine has two identical springs on it and they seem to lose tension somewhat over time.

I got some bad news tho. After its second lawn, the Snapper broke. I have no clue why. Quite sudden. The rubber donut that turns on the metal disc at a 90 degree angle got out of it's metal housing and also bent it perfectly in 4 pieces. The shop has never seen that. It will be fixed and hoppefully back on the grass on Wednesday. I am glad I bought it from a good shop.

All tho, the mower is great. It cuts nice, the motor is quite strong for a 160cc. The only downsides so far is that wacky bag and self propel lever.
