I have a 2003 toro zmaster 286e. I had an issue with it back firing and stalling when it warmed up (about 10 minutes) brought it to a shop they did a service on it however after getting it home it does the same thing. When it first starts to act up if i shut off the pto and open handles it will pick back up and i can continue for about 1 minute then it does it again. I tried leaving the pto off and just driving across the lawn and it acted up that way also. I made sure the fuel tank cap was venting. dont know if its a fuel issue, O2 sensor or something else.

Being a 2003 wouldnt hurt to replace the fuel lines because of age but start checking at the tank pickup and work to the carb. Best to logically troubleshoot than guess at parts.
