I have a Z425 that got to wear it was hard to start like the battery was week so I put a new in and it still wont spin over. I took my hands and spun the flywheel over once and it fired right up and run like a champ. Started fine 2 or 3 times and did the same thing again just would move the flywheel so I turned it by hand again and started right up. What is going on with this thing?? Could it be the valves needing adjusting? The mower runs fine once its running just doesn't want to spin over sometimes.. Checked the charging system its putting out 13.9 according to the meter. Any suggestions?

I'd start with checking all my cables and connections. With the battery being know to be good, sounds like starter... but check cables first.

I would say that this is a classic case of needing to adjust the valve clearances.

Thanks for the replies. I checked all the connections and they seem fine so Im going to take it to the shop and get the valves adjusted hopefully that will take care of it. Thanks again for the help
