yt 16 pto belt

have a yt16.80s era.was able to solve the fuel solenoid issue.machine runs great but i keep eating belt from pto to mower deck.have replaced all sticky pulleys.the machine had a 1/2x47 inch belt on it but if i get into anything thats to tall the belt starts to slip and then it eats it right up.any advice would be very appreciated.

If your belt sits deep in the groove of the pulley, it is a sign that the pulley/s are worn out. Normally, the belt contacts the 2 sides of the "V". When a pulley is worn, most of the contact is the narrow, bottom of the V on the belt and pully which is too little surface area for good grab.

The pulleys could be worn as stated above, but also check the tension on the idler pulley. If the spring is wore out, or the tensioner isn't pivoting freely on its mount, that could also be the problem.

thanks.will check belt position.im am using a 1/2x47" belt.is that the right size or should i go shorter?

I couldn't tell you about the length, but the width is right.
