 Well my old mtd pusher bit the bullet tecumseh 5hp 12 yrs old lost compression needs rebuilt blah blah blah. Deck is in amazing condition no rust or paint peel.

I stumble upon a small engine shop with a new old stock tecumseh xl 4hp cast iron bore has no safety brake or primer carb looks out of the early 80's model number is TVXL105 has a 2 quart fuel tank also.

He has it marked down to 100.00$ to get it out of the room to get new stock the owner said it was found in old storage in the original box along with the paper work and warranty cards looks like a tank compared to these tin can models these days.

I'm planning a repower because i don't want to scrap the deck and buy a flimsy plastic mower they sell around here seems like a decent deal and the shaft is the same size as whats on my blown engine.

P.S. i did find a engine pic of the same engine on the internet i will up load it later on.

That engine should last for a very long time. Not very often you find a pushmower engine with a cast iron cylinder liner. I had the same engine in my engine stock up until last year, and put it on my nephews push mower. Was part of another dealer buyout back in 2001. Who knows how long he had the engine. He was in business for 18 years.

Only thing would bother me is parts availability because the company is defunct and im going to guess pre 85 on the engine because of the lack of engine brake also.
