I have a 46" XT1 that's about 5 years old (bought it used two summers ago) and when I first start it up it runs like it should, but after about 10 minutes or so it bogs down and struggles to cut and I need to move at about 1/3 to 1/2 speed for the rest of the lawn.
I thought it might have been the spindles because the engine returns to a higher idle when I disengage the mower blades. However, today I ran out of gas and for the last few seconds before it died the engine powered back up like when I first start it, making me think it has something to do with the carb air/fuel mix. Any ideas?
I wonder if you have a coil failing when it warms up on one cylinder? That could explain what you are experiencing. Next time it happens. Pull the spark plug wire on each cylinder and see if when you do it nothing changes. If nothing changes, that is the cylinder/coil that has issues.
