I'm looking at a used X485 AWS with 500hrs on it. Looks like a nice clean machine. How's the longevity of the AWS? Is that something to consider? I see a lot of these machines with 3 and 4 times as many hours, but it seems like there are a lot of extra parts in the rear-end and steering to potentially fail. I have plenty of trees to go around so AWS would be nice. But I want to buy something thats going to last a long long time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The X series are a good dependable units and not like the lower grade units which are killing JD's reputation.

Your question is valid. Obviously you need AWS. The high hours reflect the extra desired and functionality of AWS by those current owners. A few more rear steering parts add (somewhat double) the future repairs, by you. My question is would a very few and additional potential repairs change your need for AWS?
If the condition and price is right for you, then go for it!
