Pics attached.

Tried to include both sides of the belt where the break occurred, and also some general damage I found in another section of the belt (those two pics are out of order - one appears at the beginning and the other at the end).

The belt has broken when engaging the blades and also while mowing after engaging the blades. Mower has 84 hours and has been routinely serviced per JD schedule.

I mow the grass when tall, but generally nothing I wouldn’t be able to easily get through with my push mower.

Any ideas?

Looks like an impact type break. Either getting shock loaded from overload, or hitting something like a mole mound or bouncing and catching a belt guide or something that is cutting the belt.

I have seen a few mowers over the years that if the deck is engaged at certain heights, and engine speeds, the deck belt will bounce and snag the belt guide on the tension idler pulley cutting or damaging the belt.
