Wisconsin TJD coil question

I have a Yazoo YR-60 with a TJD engine, side-mount distributor. I am in the process of installing new points. I have been using a 12V car, external resistor coil. Should the coil have an external resistor?

These engine did not use a coil most of the time, but in the past when I saw them I did add a condenser if the points would fail quickly. This manual may help you out. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1010067/Wisconsin-Th.html#page=16-manual

Maybe I am missing something. There is always a coil whether you have a distributor or a magneto. Otherwise how you get the spark voltage? I do have a manual but it does not point out the coil resistor. Anyway, the charging system does not go over 15V, so I think I should be safe with a non-resistor coil.

My autocorrect changed condenser to coil so it did not make sense, sorry about that. Using a non-resistor coil should be no problem.

If you are using a 12v system you need a 3 ohm coil. If you have a 1.5 ohm coil you need a 1.5 ohm ballast resistor in series with it.
