Re: Can't find a magneto for my B&S, help!
If your engine has not been convert to breaker less ( meaning points being removed) the part number you need is 298968. If you have a breaker less or want to convert to breaker less the part number is 398811. As I am not is the shop for over a week, I would double check these numbers with your local repair shop.

I replied to you with this post. Are we now your local repair shop. If you are handicapped or can not leave the house I apoligize for being so rude, but do a little work on your own. I didn't say to buy from them, because you want to buy it cheaper, just have them double check the part numbers. If you really did a little work on your own, you would have found out that your would need to look up your engine under 190432-1535-01 because of it's age. Secondly, you would read the ad you would see that has 398811, which may have been superseded from or superseded to the number I gave your. So what is your question now, besides wishing I would go to

Buy the 298968 and be done with it, just clip the point wire and install the upgraded magneto. Like I said also in another thread go try to find one off a junk 8 to12 hp engine.....

If you are going to covert it, do not buy the 298968. This is for points.

Thanks guys! but if I use the 398811, will I have to re-polarize the magnet? Some people I have talked to said yes, some said no.

Any one who says YES has no idea what they are talking about.
