I have a 10546 with a bad motor.I recently purchased a 8243 with good motor and want to swap the motors. My question is the 10546 has the 3 speed trans the 8243 has the caspan drive. Is a swap possible or do should I rebuild the 10546 motor and leave the 8243 in one piece?both mowers are in pretty good shape

I don't think so, but can say with certainty just yet. It will come down to the length of the crankshaft and orientation of the belt pulley on the crankshaft. I don't know that the location of the pulley will allow the belt to clear the case of the gearbox. I know I have an F-series short block with a pulley on the shelf, and I have a shaft drive F-series on the shelf, but it is for a BBC. I do have another mower with an F-series shaft drive on it. If I get a chance later I will compare the two and let you know what I come up with

In my opinion, it won't work. The gearbox will be in the way, not allowing proper installation of the necessary pulley.
