wheeled weed trimmer Craftsman 917.773746 .... is there an adapter available to put around the jackshaft just above the mowball to keep weeds from wrapping around the shaft?
thanks for cking and responding BlazNT. reason I ask is a friend had recently borrowed my original wacker and apparently had bad trouble with weeds wrapped so she had taken it somewhere and I noticed a sleeve had been placed around the shaft just above mowball. Unfortunately it was then discovered that valves had been damaged resulting in having to get a replacement wacker. Thinking about the sleeve it looks like it might work, but I fear trying it on the new wacker may void the warranty if I have trouble.

From what I see if you put anything there you will not be able to adjust trim height.
this is true ... since I never changed the trim height on my old wacker I don't see that that would be a problem for me. It appears that the sleeve which was attached is somehow affixed .. that could be a problem if anything other than mowball would ever have to be replaced
