Since it is hard to find these Honda gas mowers new nowadays, what would be the highest price you would consider paying for an HRX217 with the sought after hydrostatic drive? I had one years ago and sold it to my neighbor of which she gets great use of it but I sometimes regret selling it when I see her use it. I feel good selling it to her for her situation but now am thinking of buying another.
Maybe I should just keep my old reliable HR217 that is built like a tank and will probably outlive me.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Honda got out of the mower business a couple of years ago and are now just depleting remaining stock.

Here is a video with lots of info:

To be clear, in the video he said Honda is out of the USA market for selling lawn mowers. I would bet that Honda will come out with an electric mower for the USA market at some point. It seems that is the overwhelming trend.

Pricing is regional. If you look toward the end of the summer you will get you best pricing on a used mower. I would stay away from the models with the blade clutch. It adds complexity and weight. Unless you are a commercial user who runs the mower every day I do not see the benefits out weighing the downsides.

Another option is to look for a decent Toro Super Recycler. Some came with Honda engines. They have an aluminum deck that will last for ever. I own one with a Briggs Quantum Engine and It should last the rest of my life. I Also think is mulches a bit better than the Honda Quad Cut dual blade system. They both will mulch excellently. Just in my opinion, the Toro Super Recycler has an edge on mulch quality.

Their is a cult like following to Honda mowers now and the pricing is up there. If you really have you heart set on one go for it and do not worry about what you pay. It should last the rest of your life with basic maintenance along with storing it inside.
