I have a Scags Turf Tiger and it says I should use 10W-30 motor oil for the hydraullic fluid pumps. I've never changed that fluid before and using motor oil for hydraulic pumps makes me a little leary.

Hydro gear has used 20W50 motor oil for years in their hydros. So if your manual says to use 10W30 then use it.

Two choices:

1. Go back to engineering school and then work 20 years in the hydraulic design industry.
2. Follow the instructions.
