what did i do?

i have a husqvarna yth-2348. i started cutting the grass today and 10 minutes after starting the engine sounds like its bogging down. when i try to start it again, all i get when i turn the key is a big ping. it pings as soon as i switch it past stop. (you know when it hits the little reverse tractor symbol). Is it the starter. i have had the mower about six years and service every season but i have already replaced the starter twice during that time.

note: don't know if it makes any difference but it did get rained on while it was uncovered since the last mowing.

PLEASE HELP! I love my mower but am at my wits end.

what engine is in it? brand/model ect... have you done the basics like checking the oil level & trying to turn the engine over by hand - turning the flywheel to feel if the startermotor is binding on the flywheel?
