I need a riding mower that can be used to cut thistles and other weeds along with grass. There are rocks and down limbs also on the ground among the trees. I therefore want to be able to cut at a height of about 6 inches. A large Ferris is out of the question since it does have to go through the trees. Is there any mower that will do this job.

What you need is a Bush Hog. First, no "finish" mower will mow at 6". With limbs and rocks, you will destroy a finish mower but a Bush Hog is designed to do what you are wanting.
