Have you had any problems with websites over the last couple of days? I've heard on the news that a lot of sites were hacked into, and I've noticed some weird responses to sites I've been on.

That might explain it. I was trying to access Safeway's website and it was totally screwy. It wouldn't recognize my sign on and when I clicked on their links, it wasn't going where it was supposed to.

The only site (actually a group of sites) that I heard was hacked recently is Gawker Media. Apparently, if you have an account on any of the Gawker sites, you should change your password because all of the usernames and passwords were compromised. Here is a story from The Next Web describing the problem.

I read somewhere else that Gawker was very slow responding once the problem was identified.

If a particular site is slow there are many possible explanations -- it's not necessarily related to hacking.
