I am need of a starter Generator for my 1966 Cub Cadet Model 71.
I bought this as a refurbish project as a bunch of parts.
The Starter Generator that I got with the deal is a model 1101992 serial 6M15 as per the tag on it.
My plan is to get the tractor together and running, then take it apart, paint it, and re-assemble.
I believe the starter generator listed above came from a Wheel Horse.
Wheel Horse and some others turn Clockwise.
Cub Cadets turn Counter Clockwise, so the above won't work for me.
It bench tests fine and cranks the engine just fine, except backwards.
I would trade it for a working cub model or purchase one for a cub at a reasonable price.
I posted a pic.
Have you tried your local auto parts store. Many companies (Oscar Wilson, Delco, Bosch) make them the way you want, CCW. Also, most golf carts use a CCW turning start/generator.
Another option you may have to take it in to a repair shop that rebuilds them, if there are any close. i have a freind that had to have his repaired for his allis chalmers B110. the shop rebuilt it, and it cost him about $75. he found one on E-Bay that they wanted $125 plus the S&H with no guaranty that it would work. the repair shop guaranteed it for 6 months(depends on the shop owner on that) so it may be better to checkk something like that out:wink:
