Walk behind vs Stander

I purchased a walk behind in the beginning of the season. As of now, I am really thinking about trading it in for a stander instead. I've come to realise that a sulky is hard on the knees, because they are the ones that absorb the shock. Now, I was wondering if I could get any input on the quality of ride on standers. I would be trading it in for the Ferris SRS Z1. It has that suspension operator plate. I really need something good for my knees and body. I am worried about the abilities of a stander. I feel good in slopes with the WB since I can man handle it a bit. Not so sure about stander.

The ride quality of the stander is far superior to any walk behind with sulky or to most ztr mowers for that matter. As far as man-handling a stander goes, there's very little to man-handle because the pumps and wheel motors take care of that, there one unit and drive like a ztr mower and handling slopes is a dream. I run the Toro Grandstand 36" and I wouldn't trade it for any mower. The Grandstand also has the best warranty on the market, 5 years or 1200 hours with a lifetime frame and Toro will stand behind there mowers.
The Flex ride platform on my 36 is fantastic, ride is extremely comfortable and it's larger than most other standers so you can move around a bit. If your worried about the abilities of a stander, don't be. It's far better than a WB with a sulky, and it will be faster. What I wouldn't do is buy any stander with a fixed engine mount, it robs it of its abilities on slopes.

Well, I am decided. I will go with a stander. I will get the Ferris, because I love my Ferris dealer. Family owned and I know them well. Toro dealer is cold.

Thanks a lot for your input!

When I say man handle, I mean to pop wheelies with the hydro to go over places I know I will scalp. Not sure I can do that with a stander. With a WB you pump the hydros and lean on the handles.

You can buy what you like but just remember your family owned dealer isn't riding the mower all day long. The Toro with its lower center of gravity is a big plus on slopes and the larger ride platform is also a big plus along with the walk behind option. You mite want to check the video and look at the options before you make up you mind. Something you may want to do is do a little test drive on each.
