I was given a Vanguard V Twin 14 hp engine. All wiring is either missing or damaged. I am replacing all wiring. I know there is a wire from each coil that is grounded to shut off engine. My question is: Can these wires be combined into one before going to the stop switch, or will I need 1 or 2 diodes in those wires before they get to the stop switch. Other switch terminal will be connected to ground

Here is the wiring schematic, just note the diode are indicated backwards to what they need to be in my opinion, the cathodes should going to ground and not to coils. THis would also prevent any accidental voltage being applied.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I agree the diodes should be the other way
